Experience Computer Science Education Week at Code Ninjas
Code Ninjas Locations to Host Free Hour of Code & Holiday Hackathon Events
Join us as we celebrate Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) with free events to ignite every child’s curiosity, creativity, and capacity to code. Our centers across the globe are offering kids the opportunity to learn new skills and win awesome prizes! From December 7th to December 13th, participating Code Ninjas locations will be holding free events, such as Hour of Code™ — a worldwide movement that gives kids exposure to computer science — and a special “Holiday Hackathon” where kids get to flex their coding and creative muscles while competing for prizes, locally and internationally! Hour of Code
Hour of Code events are hour-long sessions designed to introduce kids to coding and critical thinking, or advance their existing skills. Prior coding experience is not required to participate. Kids will have the opportunity to take part in activities that encourage them to think in new ways, and open their eyes to the wonders of coding.
For this years events, Code Ninjas will have special activities for all skill levels to explore block-based programming: Roblox, 3D modeling, JavaScript, and more — no coding experience needed! Below are just a few activities kids can participate in:
- ScratchJr Dance Party: Program multiple characters to have a dance party in your virtual world!
- Micro:bit Maker — Emoji Story: Create an emoji-story with a physical device or a Microbit emulator!
- Roblox Rebel — Galactic Speedway: Customize and assemble your own spaceship to race in the Galactic Speedway!
- 3D Modeling — Name Tag: Learn about 3D design and create your own 3D nametag!
Holiday Hackathon
Participating centers will also host Holiday Hackathon events where kids team up to build games, code, and compete for prizes locally and internationally. Kids must have some experience with Scratch to participate, and will create their own unique games using a template provided to them.
After building and presenting their games, the top three teams at each Code Ninjas center will win local prizes. The number one team from each center will go on to be judged internationally with the chance to win awesome prizes! These amazing prizes feature STEM toys & products such as Sphero Mini, CoDrone Lite, Meowbit and more!
