The Code Ninjas Sensei Game Jam

At Code Ninjas, we believe in continually fostering creativity, innovation, and a love for coding in everyone, including ourselves. In recognition of this, we recently held our inaugural Sensei Game Jam complete with cash prizes and custom t-shirts.

To say we’re blown away by the game submissions we got is an understatement.

The theme for our first jam was simple, yet open-ended: Robot Rock. Keeping it purposely vague, we wanted to see where our Sensei’s creativity would take them.

Judging was based on five key criteria:

  • Theme: Does the game exemplify the Robot Rock theme in any interpretation?
  • Gameplay: Is the game fun, intuitive, and engaging with an enjoyable experience from start to finish?
  • Art & Story: Does the visual appeal and storytelling enhance the game? Is the design creative and captivating?
  • User Experience / Interface: Is the game easy to understand and play with clear controls and goals? Does it make sense to users?
  • Craftsmanship: How polished is the final game? Did the developer go above and beyond to create an amazing overall feel?

We heard from a number of Senseis that they had been thinking of making a game of their own but needed a little extra motivation to get there. And get there, they did!

We are so thankful for all our Senseis and everything they bring to our dojos. There is some incredible talent within our community and we are so proud to showcase these entries.

We’re committed to empowering young minds and fostering a passion for STEM and game development. The Sensei Game Jam was just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see how this event evolves in the future. Stay tuned!

Winners and game links are coming shortly…
