With STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) advancing rapidly in today’s digital era, franchise owners Venkat, Anjali, Malla and Sudeep all had the same goal: to bridge the gap in coding curriculum missing in their children’s school system. Although they began the Code Ninjas journey separately, these four owners came together to share their collective vision.

Please tell us a little about yourself — background, interests, family, and anything else you want to share.

V: I’ve lived in the Triad area in North Carolina for over five years with my wife, Uma, and two children; Geeta, 8, and Vihaan, 3. Though I was born and brought up in India, my career and technological expertise brought me to the US.

A: I moved to the High Point area from Connecticut about three years ago with my husband, Milind, and two girls; 8-year-old Janiya and 5-year-old Millie. We enjoy many activities as a family; from traveling to new places, to visiting local museums, to just being outdoors together.

M: My wife, Meghana and I, along with our 3-year-old son, have lived in High Point since 2012. Outside of work, I enjoy gardening and spending time with our friends in the community.

S: I moved here from Hyderabad, India, in 2007 and currently reside in the High Point area with my wife and two children. In my spare time, I enjoy catching up on technology as well as financial blogs.

What was your profession or career leading up to joining the Code Ninjas franchise?

V: Being a computer programmer myself, I recognize the incredible potential coding has in this digital era. I strongly believe the younger generation needs this skill set now more than ever. The current school system does not address coding and advanced technologies to the extent it needs to be, and I always thought there should be a means to fill this gap in our education system. That’s when I started looking for available options that could bring such an opportunity closer to the community. Through my research, I found Code Ninjas already implementing exactly what I had in mind.

A: Before working with Code Ninjas, I worked as a preschool teacher and volunteered as Class Parent for my eldest daughter’s class at her school. This is where I first became familiar with coding and STEM academia in general. Being around the kids talking about their STEM classes and all the exciting projects they were working on, I was always on the lookout for new and upcoming STEM-related activities to incorporate into my daughter’s everyday life.

M: I was searching for a fresh, innovative opportunity to bring a different concept to my community and was instantly attracted to the purpose and vision of Code Ninjas. Already being in the industry myself, I see firsthand how important it is to understand coding. It is an extremely valuable tool for kids to learn.

S: I have a master’s degree in Computer Science and professional experience blending business strategy with information technology. The concept of teaching kids how to code in a fun way is quite exciting, and I feel that this is the best opportunity to do my part to close the STEM gap for the future.

What made you decide to become a Code Ninjas franchise owner?

We all feel that the younger generation needs to know how to code regardless of who they decide to become in the future. It is very important for our children to learn how to connect, be safe online and recognize the language of code. The current school system offers introductory coding classes, but we saw the need for more subject depth. We have a great team in High Point and are eager to show community what Code Ninjas can do for our children.

What are you most excited about as a Code Ninjas franchisee?

We are tremendously excited to provide such an incredible new concept to the High Point community. Through many conversations with other parents in our children’s schools and extracurricular activities, we recognized that there was a major need in this area for a program that teaches coding and problem-solving skills, especially considering the outlook of STEM for the future. Our children are already playing games and making use of all these advanced technologies, so why not create a safe space for kids to cultivate their knowledge from an early age?
