The most frequent advice aspiring game developers get: “Keep making games, keep sharpening your skills.” This is important to us at Code Ninjas- our curriculum is custom-made to help Ninjas sharpen their skills while giving them constant opportunities to make games- but even with world-class curriculum, those Ninjas wouldn’t get anywhere without Senseis to guide them.
It’s no secret that our Senseis are the best of the best. When they aren’t teaching the next generation, our Senseis are developing their own games, leading Ninjas in worldwide robotics competitions, and raising money with Extra Life. To make sure we have the best, our Senseis are encouraged to continue sharpening their skills and building their portfolios, and we seek to give them every opportunity.
“Explaining programming concepts to others has made me a much more methodical coder,” says Ange-Evry Abate, Sensei from Blackheath, UK and developer of the MakeCode Arcade game “Ivar” that took first place in the Polar Opposites Game Jam. Quarterly, Senseis have the opportunity to participate in a competitive employees-only Game Jam, inviting them to hone and show off their programming and game design skills. Our most recent Game Jam- Polar Opposites- had six winners earning cash prizes, while runners-up and Judge’s Choice winners received commemorative t-shirts.
Guest Judges from the industry give Senseis direct feedback about their games, both praise and constructive criticism. “Having a game jam be judged by industry veterans is a super cool opportunity to have,” said an anonymous Sensei, while others expressed excitement about specific judges.
Our Code Ninjas Senseis are the best, and we’ll keep working to give them more opportunities to show it!
Stay tuned to hear all about our winners!
